So far Dan has done the bulk of the driving fueled
by coffee, Red Bull, and more coffee. We only had one minor navigational error
early in the trip, but we took it in stride.
It took us down some Texas back roads for a few miles. After dodging a couple
deer and watching a gorgeous sunset, we made it back to the interstate and
continued westward. Not long after, we made quick pit stop and for dinner and
continued what has become a road trip tradition of making sandwiches in the
parking lot. Around 1 am, we finally crossed the Texas border. The rest of the
drive was a blur of country music, semis, and surprisingly clean gas station
bathrooms.

We made it to Flagstaff, AZ right around 9 am this morning. We were running low on food rations and decided to stop at Brandy’s restaurant and bakery to refuel and gain strength for our upcoming Grand Canyon adventures. Brandy’s turned out to be a Diners, Drive Ins and Dives restaurant and it did indeed live up to its famous reputation.

From Flagstaff, we continued on to the Grand Canyon. Although we didn’t make it in time for sunrise, it was still a beautiful sight to behold. The wind was crazy strong at the edge of the canyon. Somehow, we all managed to keep our footing and keep our cell phones from falling in the abyss below. We are now continuing on toward Los Angeles with hopes of arriving before night fall.
